Microdermabrasion - All that you wanted to know...

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that give the skin a new glow. It is a technique used to 'repair' skin damage caused due to sunlight and aging. Tiny crystals are sprinkled on the face and massaged gently to remove the dead layer of skin. It has gained a lot of importance in day spas, medical spas, etc. because of its benefits. The procedure involved is less painful and does not require anesthesia. It can be used for removal of light scars. It is not limited to face only but can also be performed on knees, elbows, shoulders, back and even to remove stretch marks.

It is a non-invasive skin treatment, used to remove the damaged upper layer of skin and get a new, healthier skin. It is known to be completely safe with less side effects and most important of all, it does not affect muscles or nerves. Performed with a hand piece attached to a machine, it provides air pressure and vacuum to effectively sand blast crystals inside the skin. The abraded skin is removed by suction to maintain hygiene.

There are widely two kind of microdermabrasion systems available in the market:
* Crystal microdermabrasion- They are performed with tiny crystals.
* Diamond microdermabrasion- In this method, diamond makes contact with the skin and abrades it.

However, it is not as efficient in removing wrinkles and discoloration. Microdermabrasion is proven only for the acne scars that are not very deep. It is less effective for sunken scars. Home microdermabrasion is an immensely popular alternative these days with people avoiding medical treatment. This method is cheap and easy to perform and produces good result with time. Nowadays, there is a huge competition in the home microdermabrasion market.

You can try using Microdermabrasion for an effective and painless treatment of scars and acne. It has very few side effects as compared to other skin treatments.
